There are so many recipes on the internet on making the “perfect” green smoothie, but sometimes you just don’t have that one ingredient on hand. I personally am at the point where I just “dump and pour,” with whatever I have or need to use up! Our family has one per day and it has literally been life changing. We have so much more energy, have lost a few unwanted pounds, my twins are growing like weeds and we are all healthy! I am a green smoothie super fan for sure! Here is list of what you need to get started…

Thanks so much for the mention! This is a really awesome post – I would have loved having something like this when I first started experimenting with green smoothies! There’s a few things in here I’ve never even tried in my smoothies (or at all in the case of mulberries!) so I’m excited to experiment more. Btw, I’ve been looking through a lot of your recipes and I love your blog! I need to try the kale pesto! I’ll definitely be visiting a lot. 🙂
Best,
Kristin

I love your blog! Thanks for all the tips. I’m wondering what is the best way youve found to store the superfoods. Do you refrigerate them?

Hey there,
I have been doing some green smoothies for a month or two, usually including organic OJ, Kale, Spinach, Carrots, Strawberries, a Banana, Blue Berries, Grapes and alternating between Peaches or Pineapples. I have no idea how many calories I am taking in with this, can you help me to better estimate the calories in something like this?
Thanks,
Rebecca

That is so great that you started “juicing!” Well I can give you an idea, but I would need to know measurements. OJ by itself is going to have a lot of calories 1 cup has, I believe, around 120. The vegetables have maybe 20. One thing I have learned, is not to focus on calories, but rather the quality of food, then health and body weight will “magically” fall into place. I wouldn’t worry about the calories! You are doing GREAT for your body! However, I would nix the OJ and just stick with raw fruits and veggies. For added sweetness and creaminess add 1/2 banana for yourself. I generally use plain water, almond milk, or coconut water for liquid.
Hope that helps!! 🙂

Great article, I went out and got a few ingredients and made my first ‘green’ smoothie today. I didn’t have a muslin cloth to sieve the juice through so had the whole thing, it was quite nice though I added just a touch of agave syrup and molasses instead of the dates.

That is great Florence! With green smoothies, there is no need, to use a sieve or cheese cloth! They are great for that smoothie texture and full of fiber! If you want to “juice” that a nut milk bag is perfect to remove the pulp or fiber content, so you get strait vitamins to your blood stream! They both have their benefits 🙂 Happy blending!
