There is such a misconception out there that fat makes you fat. I used to be one of those believers! I remember being in college and not wanting to each cheese unless it was the low-fat/fat-free kind (yuck!). Or only using reduced fat margarine or sour cream. I read labels and I thought I was making healthy choices by choosing low-fat or fat-free items, boy was I wrong.
By taking fat out of natural foods, food manufacturers end up putting terrible ingredients back in to “make up” for the lack of naturally occurring fat, such as processed sugars, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, artificial ingredients, and CHEMICALS. When is the last time you looked at the ingredients of your low-fat sour cream, Smart butter, or Light Peanut Butter? They are full of unnatural, unhealthy, ingredients that contain CHEMICALS and are detrimental to your health… and your waist line!
When you eat unnatural foods or foods containing unnatural ingredients, your body cannot break them down, and your liver is overworked. It cannot process these ingredients and you cannot lose fat. Fat does NOT make you fat, eating processed (sugary) foods makes you fat!
Get rid of the easy to spread smart butter or margarine that is FAR from smart and start eating some real Naturally Made easy to spread homemade butter. This one is a staple in my house and it takes only minutes to make.
Grass-Fed Butter Spread
Ingredients
- 1 lb organic grass-fed butter (salted or not; you choose)
- 2 cups Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Start with room temperature butter. I usually just leave mine out for a few hours on the counter to warm up.
Measure out the oil and add to the food processor (and don’t try to take a photo while pouring or you will spill! ha!)
Mix to blend and store in a container in the refrigerator. You can use an old cleaned out margarine container or a container that holds 4 cups!
This has to be one of the easiest recipes to make and so much healthier for you and your family! Enjoy!
I’ve got to make this for my husband- he still insists on buying SmartBalance because he wants something easily spreadable 🙂
